Rumours and speculation have been blogged and tweeted across the world, but they've all been put to bed as Apple finally release the iPad.
But the question on everyone's lips is now; will the iPad be the beginning of a boom in popularity for tablet computers?
Others had come before but it was back in 2001 when Microsoft channelled resources into masking the kind of product people would actually want to use.
It's positioned in the gap between a smartphone device and a netbook computer and looks a lot like a big iPhone.
Some people have described it as a touch screen laptop and industry experts say Apple will need to get retailers on board in the same way they managed to so with the iPhone and get them to put together internet packages to help disguise the overall price to the end customer.
