The Office for National Statistics released its e-commerce and ICT activity 2009 report earlier this week, showing that internet retail sales stood more than £400 billion in 2009.

Sales carried out over internet sites reached £115.0 billion, while online sales undertaken via other means – such as through electronic transactions – were valued at £293 billion.
In 2009, 15 per cent of businesses were said to have a website while 76 per cent of businesses had a website.
