Virgin Media has announced the roll out of its fastest ever broadband service offering speeds more than 24 times the UK average.
The 100 megabit per second service claims to be the fastest commercially available broadband in the UK. The current average speed is just 4.1 megabits per second.
The service should be available to the country’s 12.6 million Virgin connected homes by the end of 2010.
The company say that at the speeds being offered a music album should download in as little as five seconds and an hour long TV show should take just 31 seconds.
Virgin has also announced the extension of a 200 MBPS pilot scheme to Coventry where it is looking to recruit more customers to test future technologies.
