Small businesses are vital to tackling graduate and youth unemployment.
That's according to the Federation of Small Businesses who say that the Government must ensure that small organisations are given the tools they need to take on more graduate interns and apprentices, to tackle youth unemployment and bring the country out of recession.
The FSB took its 'employment centre' stand to the Labour Party Conference to tell delegates how small businesses can help create jobs through practical measures.
These include investing £3 million to help promote and extend graduate internships, creating an extra five thousand placements.
An overhaul of apprenticeships, including an increase in the national minimum wage for them and an introduction of a wage subsidy for workers who've had their hours cut to avoid redundancies and enable employers to retain their staff.
The FSB say that small firms are the backbone of the British economy and they’re ready to do they’re bit to help an upturn.
