Most small businesses see little reason to use social-networking sites to boost their brand according to a new report.
A survey commissioned by Citibank, carried out by GfK Roper found that around three quarters of small businesses didn't see social networking sites as helpful in finding business leads.
The findings reveal that small firms use other tools to grow their businesses. Nearly half of companies with fewer than 20 employees say they rely on their own website to generate sales leads. This grew to 57 per cent for companies with 20 to 99 employees.
Citi's Small Business Segment vice president, Maria Veltre, says the survey suggests small business owners are still "feeling their way" into social media.
