Microsoft is looking set to gain EU approval for its landmark deal with search engine rivals Yahoo.
The deal, which sees a 10-year global web search partnership, must be approved by regulators before it can take effect.
The deadline for The European Competition Commission watchdog to approve or block the partnership is this Friday, but privately Commission members are saying the deal will have a minimal effect on markets.
The companies are hoping to break the dominance of Google, which has a 90 per cent share of the search engine market.
Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing engine currently have only 7.4 per cent combined.
